Position: Assistant Manager - Procurement Reports to: Senior Manager - Procurement Location: Chennai Job Summary: Join The Indus Valley as an Assistant Manager - Procurement and support our mission to enhance health and wellness in every home. In this role, you will play a crucial part in executing procurement strategies and ensuring efficient, cost-effective sourcing. We're looking for a proactive individual with strong negotiation skills and experience in procurement to support our procurement team in achieving company objectives. Key Responsibilities: 1. Support Strategic Procurement: Assist in developing and executing procurement strategies that align with company goals. Identify cost-saving, sourcing opportunities and support process efficiencies under the guidance of the Head of Procurement. 2. Supplier Relationships: Help build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Support negotiations to secure favorable contracts and maintain high supplier performance. 3. Operational Support: Participate in the procurement lifecycle, ensuring compliance with processes and policies. Assist in the implementation and management of procurement tools and systems. 4. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, legal, and other departments to align procurement activities with business objectives. Collaborate with other teams to support company-wide procurement initiatives. 5. Cost and Risk Optimization: Assist in analyzing market trends to make cost-effective and risk-aware procurement decisions. Ensure quality and cost efficiency in procurement activities. 6. Contract Assistance: Support the Head of Procurement in managing procurement contracts, including drafting, compliance, and renewals. 7. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvement initiatives and adopt industry best practices. Assist in exploring opportunities for procurement automation and digital transformation. 8. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and maintain procurement reports, tracking KPIs and providing insights to support decision-making. 9. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members to foster a supportive and innovative team environment. 10. Budget and Forecasting Assistance: Support the Head of Procurement with budgeting and financial forecasting for procurement activities. 11. Cross-department Coordination: Coordinate with marketing, sales, and operations to ensure alignment between procurement and other business functions. Skills and Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Mechanical or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 4 years in procurement, with exposure to supplier management and contract negotiation. Experience in foundry, production, materials, cookware, appliances, or CAPEX is highly preferred. Hindi speaking additional advantage. Skills: Strong negotiation and communication skills, team-oriented approach, and familiarity with procurement software. Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical, metallurgy, and engineering sectors is beneficial. Certifications: Certification in Supply Chain Management (CSCP, CPSM, or similar) is a plus. Methodologies: Familiarity with 5S and lean management practices. Additional Notes: Transport Allocation: Requires managerial approval.
