Job Description

It involves identifying and acquiring new business, managing a portfolio of small and medium-sized business clients, and recommending and arranging suitable insurance products. Key responsibilities include prospecting, needs assessment, proposal development, negotiation with insurers, and managing client relationships throughout the policy lifecycle, from issuance to renewals and claims. This role requires strong communication, negotiation, sales, and customer service skills, along with knowledge of insurance products and market trends.

Key responsibilities

  • Business development: Prospect for new clients, conduct territory mapping, and generate leads to secure mandates from corporate clients.
  • Client needs assessment: Understand the insurance requirements of SME clients and identify potential risks to recommend appropriate coverage.
  • Sales and negotiation: Prepare and submit quotes to clients, negotiate with insurance companies to secure competitive terms, and close deals to meet sales targets.
  • Client relationship management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients through regular contact and superior service.
  • Policy and claims support: Coordinate with the underwriting team for policy issuance and renewals, and provide support during claims settlement by liaising with the claims team and insurance companies.
  • Reporting and administration: Prepare and maintain accurate client records, generate sales and activity reports, and submit MIS data to management.
  • Market awareness: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, new insurance products, regulations, and competitor activities.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Sales and negotiation skills: Proven ability to persuade, sell, and close deals.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.
  • Customer service orientation: A focus on providing excellent service and building client loyalty.
  • Insurance knowledge: Solid understanding of various insurance products, markets, and risk assessment.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyze data, interpret market trends, and prepare reports.
  • Time management and organisation: ability to manage a client portfolio, attend to leads promptly, and handle administrative tasks.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree is often preferred, sometimes with a focus on business, insurance, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications can be advantageous.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
