Role Overview

As an Android Architect, you will lead the design and architecture of DAZN’s Android. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to define scalable solutions, ensure technical excellence, and evolve the platform to meet DAZN’s global growth and innovation goals.

You will be hands-on in setting coding standards, mentoring developers, and driving architectural decisions for performance, maintainability, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of Android and Android TV applications.

· Define best practices, frameworks, and reusable components to ensure consistency and scalability across teams.

· Partner with product, design, and backend engineering teams to translate business needs into robust, high-performance solutions.

· Drive technical design reviews, performance optimization, and system scalability improvements.

· Architect integrations with APIs, content delivery systems, and playback pipelines (HLS, DRM, adaptive streaming).

· Ensure security, resiliency, and maintainability of applications through strong architectural governance.

· Guide teams on modern Android patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture) and Jetpack Compose adoption.

· Contribute to DAZN’s engineering culture, mentoring engineers and fostering innovation.

Required Skills & Experience

· 8+ years of Android application development experience, including 4+ years in architecture or lead engineering roles.

· Strong hands-on background in Kotlin and Java.

· Proven experience architecting and building apps for Android and Android TV.

· Expertise in video streaming, playback, and DRM integration (ExoPlayer, HLS, DASH).

· Solid understanding of software design patterns (MVC, MVVM, MVI) and SOA / RESTful architecture.

· Experience with CI/CD pipelines, modularization, and scalable multi-module app design.

· Strong understanding of performance tuning, memory management, and concurrency in Android.

· Experience working in Agile environments with distributed teams.

Nice to Have

· Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Firebase, and event-driven microservices.

· Knowledge of broadcast systems, digital video workflows, or metadata pipelines.

· Familiarity with Jetpack libraries, Compose for TV, and AndroidX TV UI components.

· Experience designing for large-scale, high-availability applications.
